Walking alongside you

The world changed rapidly after September 11th, 2001, and so did I. My husband participated in the first combat deployment in Canadian history since the Korean war 50 years prior. The last day of my life was the day he left Edmonton, and I was surrounded by people who had no idea what was happening. Recognizing the gaps in assistance for the families at home, including myself, I helped create a support system of families who were left behind with many unanswered questions. Service to others helped me stay grounded and sorted me on my own journey to help others through hard times.

I am a grief and trauma expert because this is where life led me. Everyone is grieving something or someone. Traumatic events can happen anywhere and anytime. Reminders of the events might be in the physical world such as driving past the scene afterwards or in the emotional world when events pile up and we are unable to cope with the flood of feelings that create overwhelm. You do not have to go through this alone.

I am also focused on hope. Having navigated my way through my own struggles, I offer a safe container for others who are experiencing trouble of their own. Through curiosity and compassion, we will explore all aspects of your thoughts, feelings, and your experiences. I believe that our concerns affect our physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiratual parts of us. We can work on the elements that you feel called to share in the present moment.

My Approach to Counselling

Client-Centered & Trauma-Informed

My approach begins with you. I meet you where you are, honoring your unique experiences and empowering you to be an active participant in your healing journey. Every person's path is different, and I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and the right tools to support your goals. Whether you are navigating grief, trauma, chronic pain, or simply trying to make sense of what you're feeling, we work together at your pace.

Evidence-Based Practices

I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Neurodynamic Breathwork to create an integrative approach tailored to each person's needs. There is no single modality that works for everyone. Instead, we explore what resonates with you, what helps you feel safe in your body, and what moves you toward the life you want to live.

Advocacy & Community Work

My commitment to supporting veterans, first responders, and their families extends beyond the counselling room. I am actively involved in creating programs and resources that bridge the gap between clinical support and the real-world needs of those who serve.

  • Co-created the Veterans Wellness Program with Moving Forward Family Services
  • Facilitate the Making Sense of Pain group program for veterans with Pain BC and Moving Forward Family Services
  • Focus Group Member, Making Sense of Pain for Veterans, Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence for Canadian Veterans
  • Deliver Veterans Peer Support Sessions at the Putting the Pieces Together conference, Pain Canada
  • Knowledge Mobilization Champion Group, Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence for Canadian Veterans

Creating a Safe Space

Above all, I am committed to creating a confidential, non-judgmental environment where you feel safe to explore difficult emotions and experiences. Trust, respect, and compassion are the foundation of everything I do. You don't have to have all the answers before you reach out. You just have to be willing to start the conversation.
